Nelson Waterblasting support the Tasman Mako

18 August, 2024

A great weekend of rugby, as we took a couple of days off from house washing, gutter cleaning, roof spraying and all the other tasks that take us on our travels round Nelson, Stoke and Richmond. Our focus was on Trafalgar Park as the Mako men took on Canterbury in the second round of the NPC.

Earlier in the day Sean had headed off to his old school, Nelson College, to watch the first XV beat Christchurch Boy’s High in the Premiership final, their fourth victory in six years. It was a close run affair with Nelson winning 20-17.

The NPC match against Canterbury wasn’t really close at all, though the Mako only led 13-0 at half time. William Havilli controlled the match from first minute to last and the Mako beat their local rivals in every department. It was a dominant, controlled display that bodes well for the rest of the season.

As Mako 500 sponsors Nelson Waterblasting will be at all the home matches but it was a special day today as our grandson Hohepa (pictured above) attended his first rugby match. He did seem a bit more interested in the hot chips than the rugby at times but still managed to give the boys a clap and a cheer a couple of times.

As usual I have chopped Judith’s chin off with my poor selfie technique in the Legend’s marquee pre-match

The Mako women went down to a heavy defeat away to North Harbour on Sunday in the FPC but they are a very young and inexperienced team and will only get better as the season progresses.

With the All Blacks beating Argentina in style on Saturday night it was a great weekend all round for the rugby loving crew at Nelson Waterblasting. Back to work tomorrow !
