Why it pays to get an individual free quote.
If you were to look at some of the advertising for getting your house washed you could be forgiven for thinking that Nelson, Stoke and Richmond was made up of a few housing estates with identikit homes. They usually go something like this:
- 50% off
- An eye catching minimum price
- Packages available
Here’s what we see on closer reading :
- It’s 50% off a very high starting price with limited slots available (pressure selling)
- That minimum price is for 120sq m which is much smaller than the average 2-3 bed home.
- The package includes services you may not need !
Here is why that cookie-cutter approach doesn’t really work for pricing a home. Take two standard size (around 160 sq m) single storey family homes. Home A is a new build on a flat section with no trees or shrubs and good access all around the property. Home B is an old villa set into a hillside and surrounded by trees. When it comes to assessing what actually needs doing to each property and how long it will take to do it, you are comparing apples with oranges. It’s pointless and somewhat misleading to apply a standard package or cost.
All sorts of factors determine what needs doing. Is your home on a plain, in a valley or on a hillside ? Does it get all day sun to all parts of the building ? Is it surrounded by trees ? Is it a new build or an older home ? Single or double storey ? Is your roof steel or tiled ?
You might need a house wash but not a roof wash. You might need the South side of your roof treated for lichen but not the North side. Your deck might need a full clean or a light water blast. The list of possibilities isn’t exactly endless but it’s not covered by set packages !
That’s not to say we can’t give a quote without visiting your home. We may well have been to a neighbouring house and know the terrain. But we will nearly always come to look at your place before we quote (mainly to protect ourselves from any surprises). And as we are a family run business, the people who come to do the quote are the people who will come to do the work.
Our quote will be free, clearly explained and tailored to what your home needs and what you want. We don’t employ tactics like upselling or suggesting you need unnecessary work done and everything we do is to a standard and at a price that we hope will encourage you to recommend us to family and friends.
